 BODIES_in_WHITE(BiW)

In my first semester at school, I found myself struggling between the transition to college and physical distance from home (Los Angeles), while also trying to reconcile both the art and science parts of my brain. The Sterling Stacks were where I found comfort, inspiration, reflection, and ultimately, inspiration for my first art collection, Bodies in White.

‘Body in White’ is a stage in automobile manufacturing when the car’s frame has been assembled-- before the paint, engine, chassis, and trim have been added. My debut art collection explores this concept, playing with the idea that we are all ‘bodies in white’– constantly changing works in progress. This sentiment manifests itself through my work, inspired by the blueprint- a motif that emphasizes the juxtaposition between art and engineering. My designs utilize a variety of mechanical sketches and bright red flags to argue how our dreams and aspirations serve as the engine for our growth and a guide for navigating the labyrinth of life. . . reflected by the physical backdrop of the Stacks themselves.
